For the Celebrate Life 2018 on September 26, 2018, the early morning program at the Vinzon’s Hall incorporated break the fast for LIFE, walk for LIFE around the Academic Oval, brunch for LIFE, wise nuggets for LIFE, the wheel of LIFE and ended with prayers for LIFE. This is a yearly event spearheaded by Delia D. Laguyo, RGC, PhD of the Office of Counseling and Guidance (OCG) to coincide with the World Health Organization (WHO) September mental health awareness on self-harming behaviors by encouraging and inspiring making the most of life lent to us by the Almighty. Rolando C. De Los Reyes, II, RGC reminded participants that all people have a cross to carry, this cross may be unburdened with the compassion and support of others, and loving oneself first in order to be able to love others. Sharing LIFE struggles, Archie Quijano, a UP Masters student and employee underscored being flexible in undergoing challenges as one is focused on goals in life while Paula La Valle, a student leader in Tourism course and transferee student from Los Banos, emphasized that trials make us shine brighter. Fr. Binu Scaria, Prof. Darwin Absari and Ms. Trixia Navarro enlightened the audience with the Roman Catholic, Islamic and Christian, respectively, prayer perspectives about love, gratitude, humility and forgiveness. Christopher P. Hernandez, RGC anchored the entire morning program and ended this with the alma mater hymn.
