University Health Service

The University Health Service (UHS) is a 25-bed primary hospital duly licensed by the Department of Health and accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). The UHS is fully capable of handling simple, uncomplicated and stable medical conditions and, to a limited extent, non-serious cases and conditions which require the services of medical specialists. With a staff complement of 95, including 12 full-time and one part-time staff physicians, five dentists and 16 nurses, the UHS is mandated to attend to the basic medical and other health needs of UP Diliman students, faculty, employees and their dependents. Among the privileges enjoyed at the University Health Service by UP Diliman students, faculty and employees are the following FREE services:

  • General medical staff consultation at out-patient department and emergency room
  • Dental consultation and oral examination
  •  Annual medical/physical examination
  • Nutrition clinic consultation
  •  X-ray reading by radiologist
  • Ward confinement for the first seven days (for students only)
  •  Selected public health services

Specialists in the field of internal medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, orthopedic surgery, neurology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, nephrology, dermatology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, ear-nose and throat and allergology-immunology provide secondary care on an out-patient basis at the Specialty Clinics in the Geographic Practice area. Mandated clients who avail of the services of any of these clinics are charged consultation fees at discounted rates.

Medical ancillary services are provided by the pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, dietary and electrocardiography sections.
