Education USA University Fair 2024

The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines invites everyone interested in pursuing educational opportunities in the United States to attend the 5th EducationUSA University Fair on October 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu and the 8th EducationUSA University Fair on October 9, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at One Ayala Mall, Manila.

It offers free, comprehensive, and up-to-date resources and college counseling services to prospective students interested in pursuing U.S. educational opportunities. It is a must-attend event for those interested in the 2024 Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programs, with applications open until 15 October 2024.

The Fulbright Commission in the Philippines has opened the applications for the following Fulbright Visiting Scholar Programs:

  • FULBRIGHT ADVANCED RESEARCH AND UNIVERSITY LECTURING PROGRAM

Also called Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program, it is a scholarship for academics and professionals to implement their research projects at institutions for higher education, non-profit research institutes, and government institutions in the United States. Grantees, in addition to the implementation of the research project, can also teach courses.

  • FULBRIGHT U.S.-ASEAN VISITING SCHOLAR INITIATIVE PROGRAM

The objective of the Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Initiative is to deepen people-to-people engagement and strengthen our educational ties with the ten member nations of ASEAN, while specifically emphasizing the importance of ASEAN. To date, more than 80 scholars from all 10 ASEAN Member States have been awarded scholarships to pursue studies focused on a wide range of subjects including public health, the South China Sea, lndo-Pacific focus, ASEAN economic integration, banking governance, human trafficking, STEM education, food safety, and legal education.

  • FULBRIGHT-PHILIPPINE SPACE AGENCY PROGRAM AWARD IN SPACE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS (FULBRIGHT-PHILSA)

This program award, in partnership with the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA), is a visiting scholar program award designed for academics and professionals to implement their research projects at institutions for higher education, non-profit research institutes, and government-affiliated institutions in the United States. The Fulbright-PhilSA award aims to accelerate the development of a sustainable pool of space scientists, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, communicators, and other professionals constituting a robust domestic space ecosystem.

ASEAN Card News Contest

Human Asia, in collaboration with ASEAN youth, invites Southeast Asian youth to join the ASEAN Card News Contest. This contest aims to shed light on various human rights concerns within the region and elevate the voices of diverse ASEAN communities.

AY 2024-2025 UP DILIMAN LIPAD-ARAL: INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), through the Office of International Linkages Diliman (OIL Diliman), is now accepting applications for the 1st Semester AY 2025-2026 UPD LIPAD-ARAL: International Student Exchange Program.

Eligibility:

  1. Undergraduate students who are currently enrolled;
  2. sophomore or junior standing with cumulative GWA of 1.75 or better;
  3. must be enrolled in UPD for at least one remaining semester upon return from the student exchange program;
  4. must be at least 18 years old by January 2025;
  5. willing to learn a new language, if needed;
  6. not a previous participant of semester-long exchange programs; and
  7. willing to engage in return service activities for UP Diliman upon return from the exchange program (e.g. assistance to inbound exchange students, assistance in international campus events, reporting on student exchange experience, etc.).

List of required documents:

  1. Duly endorsed PDF Application Form
  2. 1-page Curriculum Vitae
  3. Latest True Copy of Grades or Official Transcript of Records
  4. GWA/CWA Certification
  5. Certificate of Remaining Units
  6. 2 accomplished recommendation forms from UP Professors whose classes the student was previously or is currently enrolled in (at least one from applicant’s home academic unit faculty member).
  7. Essay, in Filipino or in English, on why the student wants to become an exchange student (500-700 words)
  8. Form 5 for the 1st semester AY 2024-2025
  9. Photocopy of student’s valid passport bio-page (must have at least 6 months validity by the end of the program); or

For students with no passport, a passport application appointment will be accepted provided that the appointment date is before December 2024.

Pre-qualified applicants will be interviewed by members of the International Student Mobility Evaluation Committee in late November 2024. Short-listed applicants will be lined up for programs that we have already confirmed with partner universities and for upcoming programs for the 1st Semester AY2025-2026.

Successful applicants will receive a tuition waiver for the entire exchange program duration in their host university. Students have the option to apply for additional financial support through the UP OIL Mobility for Vigor and Excellence (MOVE UP) Program.
