Hala!an 2022
As part of its mandate in fostering a sense of social responsibility among UP Diliman students, the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor is officially launching Hala!an, a weekly information dissemination program and centralized resource/calendar on pertinent UP-initiated and independent programs about the upcoming National Elections in May. Hala!an aims to increase voter empowerment and political education and awareness, and to encourage students to know and exercise their rights.
New programs and updates on them will be added every Monday until the May 9 elections on this site.

The 16th Philippine Summit on European Studies
- Details: The Philippine Summit on European Studies is UP EURO’s annual flagship event that seeks to tackle the most pressing and relevant issues in the European and Philippine landscape. In light of the upcoming 2022 Philippine Election, the organization aims to provide an avenue to amplify socio-political awareness and education. With esteemed speakers from partner embassies and institutions, this year’s Summit shall focus on identifying and communicating the youth’s role in upholding social responsibility in the digital age to encourage civic participation.

Deconstructing election misinformation via Tsek.ph fact checks
- Details: Fact checks are a good means to help understand the misinformation landscape. Democracy in Danger: The Rise of Historical Distortion in the 2022 Presidential Elections

Isip-Boto
- Details: A social media campaign stretching from March 5 to May 5, 2022. The campaign will explore Psychology concepts such as groupthink, voters’ motivations, emotions and voting, negativity bias, and importance of voting. The campaign aims to have a variety of releases such as poster releases, interactive material like templates, videos under a minute, TikToks, etc. The rationale of this project is to help inform the public for the next Philippine elections with regards to voting psychology concepts that may influence their voting behaviours.

Kapekonomiya sa Balota: Driving Inclusive Development through Elections
- Details: Kapekonomiya sa Balota will highlight the varying perspectives involved in the electoral process, namely, the press and media, the election regulation body, the government, and the economic development authorities, to gain insights into the crucial roles they play in the 2022 elections. COMELEC spokesperson Dir. James Jimenez, Tsek.ph co-founder Dr. Rachel Khan, UPLB Assistant Professor Ms. Lara Gianina Reyes, and former NEDA secretary of Socioeconomic Planning Dr. Ernesto Pernia will provide insights into how this year’s elections is crucial in deciding our future and what development plans will be forwarded.

Persuasion and the Polls: The Rhetorical Work and Objects and Bodies in the Philippine Elections

UP sa Halalan 2022
- Details: This current project builds on the success of the UP System project “UP sa Halalan” which was implemented by the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs (OVPPA) during the 2013 and 2016 elections. In 2019, the main UP unit that administered the extension work is the Department of Political Science of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), University of the Philippines Diliman. Since then, the Department of Political Science has continued to administer UP as Halalan and its concurrent activities.
