2024 ProSPER.Net Young Researchers’ School

The University of Peradeniya and the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), with support from gapHQ, invite young scholars to apply for the 2024 ProSPER.Net Young Researchers’ School (YRS). This year’s program will be held from December 16-22, 2024, in Colombo and Kandy, Sri Lanka, under the theme “Building Resilience: Integrating Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Mitigation.”

The 2024 YRS provides a unique opportunity for young scholars to explore innovative, nature-based approaches to climate change mitigation. Aligned with the principles of Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) under the UNFCCC, the program aims to empower participants to contribute to global efforts in reducing GHG emissions, enhancing resilience, and promoting sustainable development. It will also foster synergy and knowledge exchange among participants, offering avenues for interdisciplinary research collaboration and action through interactive sessions, panel discussions, and workshops.

Eligibility

  • Be currently enrolled as a master or doctoral student at a ProSPER.Net member university at the time of application
  • Submit a recommendation letter from their direct supervisor within the application form.

ASEAN-Japan Roundtable Discussion of Young Women Entrepreneurs

The Roundtable Discussion on Young Women Entrepreneurs in ASEAN and Japan 2024 fully funded registration deadline has been extended! This 2-day event will explore how public and private sectors can enhance digital inclusion, access to finance, and market opportunities for women-led enterprises and MSMEs in ASEAN and Japan. Application deadline is on October 7, 2024.

The ASEAN-Japan Roundtable Discussion of Young Women Entrepreneurs is open for application! It is a 2-day discussion that will convene about 30 women entrepreneurs and business ecosystem players in 10 ASEAN Member States and Japan to discuss: How can public and private sectors effectively improve digital inclusion, access to finance, and access to markets for women-led enterprises and MSMEs in ASEAN and Japan. The roundtable is co-organized by the ASEAN-Japan Centre and ASEAN Youth Organization in support of the 2024 Lao PDR ASEAN Chairmanship.

Eligibility

  • Women entrepreneurs from the ASEAN Member States and Japan aged 25-35 years old; and
  • Able to meaningfully participate and commit to the series of activities, including providing meaningful responses and insights; and
  • Have established profitable businesses, including from MSME industries and social enterprises in the ASEAN Member States and Japan; or
  • CEOs of enterprises using e-commerce or tech startups, or social enterprises from urban and rural regions in the ASEAN Member States and Japan.
