#OpportunitiesCorner: Week 1 – April 2024

Hello there! The UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs’ #OpportunitiesCorner is an update on available scholarships, exchange programs, conferences, workshops, and other skill-enhancing initiatives for UP Diliman students. Here’s for the 1st week of April 2024:

ASEAN Prize 2024 

Entering its seventh year, the ASEAN Prize is an annual regional award honoring outstanding individuals and organizations based in ASEAN in recognition of their contributions and accomplishments to the ASEAN Community building efforts. The ASEAN Prize 2024 Recipient will receive a trophy and monetary prize of US$20,000.

 

Eligible ASEAN individuals and organizations are invited to file their applications by elaborating on their achievements that fall under the following actions:

In addition, to qualify as the Philippines’ candidate, the nominee must either be a Filipino citizen or an organization created or led by the Philippines. The submission must be supported by one character reference attesting to the nominee’s suitability to receive the ASEAN Prize. The ASEAN Prize will not consider self-nominations and posthumous submissions.

Submissions for nominations may be sent to asean@dfa.gov.ph copy furnished to asean.div4@dfa.gov.ph with the subject: ASEAN Prize 2024 Entry- [Last Name, First Name].

Kindly attach the accomplished nomination form which can be found at https://asean.org/nomination-form and include the character reference. All nominations must be submitted to the DFA by 31 May 2024, 5:00 PM.

University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS) 

At the core of the USLS experience is the cultivation of emerging world leaders, instilling the confidence to spearhead sustainable development projects within their communities. It’s a melting pot of ideas, a hub for collaborations, and a space where diverse voices unite for a shared vision of a better world.

USLS will be held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 6 to 9, 2024.

Outstanding youth leaders between the ages of 18 to 30 with the following qualities to participate in the University Scholars Leadership Symposium:

OceanX Educators Young Explorers Program 2024

OceanX Education is excited to announce that applications for the 2024 Young Explorers Program are now open through April 5, 2024. Students aged 18-22 who have a demonstrated passion for natural science through ocean leadership and conservation, marine operations or creative science storytelling are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

Video should not exceed 1 minute and should not contain any images or music. Video should film the applicant sharing directly into the camera. 

Imagine you have returned home from the Young Explorers Program. How do you imagine this experience has transformed you? How do you intend to share your experiences with your own community and use the experience to galvanize your community to think about the ocean? Describe the project you imagine using to share your experiences. For example, this may be a media or storytelling project or the completion of a new research or engineering project.
