Facilitated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, a turnover ceremony for 15 units of 55” Smart Televisions from Haier Philippines was held on January 27, 2023 at the Alcantara Hall, Student Union Building, University of the Philippines – Diliman.

The “Handog Kagamitan para sa Iskolar ng Bayan” is in line with the company’s mandate of empowering the nation’s iskolar ng bayan towards a better future through technology. Six colleges and units in UP Diliman will benefit from the donation: College of Arts and Letters, College of Music, College of Fine Arts, College of Human Kinetics, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Institute of Islamic Studies, College of Home Economics, School of Library and Information Studies, and Asian Institute of Tourism.

“When you invest in the youth, you invest in the future. And when you invest in UP, you invest in the nation. Thank you for your support as we meet the challenges of a new and better normal. In the post-pandemic world, gifts like yours open up the range of possibilities for students and faculty to discover new ways of learning, teaching, and engagement,” said Vice Chancellor Louise Jashil R. Sonido, in her Opening Remarks.

The TV donations are expected to boost each iskolar ng bayan’s pursuit of honor and excellence through accessible quality education, academic research, and through the cultivation of an enriching UP life. 

Alongside OVCSA, the turnover ceremony was graced by the Office of the Chancellor, Office of Student Projects and Activities, heads of different colleges, faculty members, and students.
