Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization Virtual Conference

York University is inviting everyone to attend the Sustainable and Inclusive Internationalization Virtual Conference scheduled from January 20th to 22nd, 2021.

Co-organized by York International and the UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education Towards Sustainability in cooperation with strategic partners International Association of Universities (IAU), Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU) and Okayama University (Japan), the Conference will bring together scholars, international mobility professionals and practitioners, policymakers, sustainability experts and other stakeholders to discuss the evolving status of international mobility in higher education in Canada and globally, critically reflect on where we are now, and to collectively build a future vision of international mobility that is inclusive, innovative and responsive to the global sustainability challenges of our times.

1. Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET Scholarships

We are pleased to share that the call for Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET scholarships is now open. The funding is organized by the OeAD-GmbH/MPC in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET (on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research – BMBWF).

There are four types of grant available as follows:

Post-doc Grants (research grants)

o   Duration: 1-2 months

o   Grant benefit: 1,150 euro

PhD-Grants (Grant for a complete PhD programme in Austria)

Duration: 36 months

o   Grant benefit: 1,050 euros

Sandwich-Grants (Grant for a partial study period during a PhD programme in Austria)

o   Duration: 9 months

o   Grant benefit: 1,050 euros

Music-Grants

o   Duration: 9 months

o   Grant benefit: 1,050 euros

2. 2021-22 Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) – Kyoto University, Japan

Kyoto University is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2021-22 Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP).

With the support of the Bai Xian Asia Institute and the Bai Xian Education Foundation, Kyoto University has operated the AFLSP as one of the program’s Partner Universities since 2014. The AFLSP provides scholarships to assist students in deepening their understanding of cultural diversity, and aims to cultivate human resources who can contribute to the development of Asia and the world.

Students are free to apply for this scholarship directly.

Application period is from March 1 to March 15, 2021.

Applicants will need to pass the entrance examination in addition to proceeding their application for AFLSP.

 

3. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) – University of Trento, Italy

UniTrento is pleased to inform everyone about the 2-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) in which UniTrento is a partner.

EMJMD are highly integrated international study programmes with excellent academic content and methodologies leading to the awarding of either a double, multiple or joint degree. Students will have the chance to study in at least two universities in different EU countries and to apply for Erasmus+ scholarships, which are available for the best candidates worldwide. They include contributions to subsistence (€ 1,000/month), to travel and installation costs (amounts depend on distance), and to participation costs.

IMSISS – International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies

Students of the International Master in Security, Intelligence and Strategic Studies examine a broad range of contemporary security challenges, such as terrorism, civil war and conflict, mass migration, energy supply security, cybersecurity and new technologies, transnational and serious organised crime. Students also explore the intelligence and strategic approaches used by governmental and non-governmental actors to combat these threats. UniTrento’s School of International Studies delivers a semester of teaching on the “Causes of Conflicts” study track (Pathway B). The IMSISS consortium also includes the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom, coordinator), Charles University (Czech Republic) and Dublin City University (Ireland).

LCT – European Master’s Program in Language and Communication Technologies

LCT provides students with profound knowledge and insight into the various disciplines that contribute to language and communication technologies and it strengthens their ability to work according to scientific methods. Practical knowledge is acquired by choosing appropriate combinations of modules in Language Technology, Computational and Theoretical Linguistics, and Computer Science. LCT is designed to meet the demands of industry and research in a rapidly growing area, offering education and training opportunities for the next generations of leaders in research and innovation. The partners are UniTrento’s Center for Mind/Brain Sciences, Saarland University (Germany, coordinator), University of Malta (Malta), University of Lorraine (France), Charles University (Czech Republic), University of Groningen (The Netherlands) and University of Basque Country (Spain).

ME3+ – European Joint Masters in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy +

The European Joint Masters in Management and Engineering of Environment and Energy + is an innovative Master programme combining Energy and Environmental Process Engineering with Management and Social Sciences, as well as Information and Communication Technology. UniTrento is involved in the study track 3 “Project Manager in Smart Cities and Industry 4.0” with the Free University of Bolzano, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary) and IMT Atlantique (France, coordinator). The University of Borås (Sweden) is also a partner in the project.

4. 2021 UFMG Summer School on Brazilian Studies

Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais is pleased to inform everyone of the 2021 UFMG Summer School on Brazilian Studies. The UFMG Summer School on Brazilian Studies intends to give students from all over the world an understanding of key aspects of Brazil from distinct perspectives.

The instructors are professors from UFMG (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais), a leading Brazilian university, recently ranked 5th for best higher education institutions in Latin America by Britain’s Times Higher Education.

Over two weeks of intense learning, meetings will cover the underpinnings of Brazilian politics, history, foreign relations, geography, law, economy, arts and culture.

As one of their most valuable partners, UFMG is offering two scholarship slots for interested UP students. Interested applicants must submit a letter of intent addressed to the OIL Director with their Form 5A and screenshot of their cGWA published in their CRS/SAIS grades portal on or before 29 January 2021 through email at oil@up.edu.ph
