In solidarity with the efforts of promoting safe spaces and fostering a community that accepts and cares for its members, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs launched “Humingahon: Hinga. Hinahon. Ahon” as part of the UP Diliman Mental Health Month celebration this October 2024.
Humingahon is a series of wellness activities which intend to encourage and remind the UP Community to take a breather (hinga), to calm down (humihanon), and be ready to rise again (ahon). On October 22 and October 30, two wellness initiatives were held— MOVinzons: Midsem Movie Day, and Bingo! Go! Go! for Wellness.
MOVinzons: Midsem Movie Day is a film-showing that highlights the importance of family, friendship, acceptance, and resilience in one’s life. The activity was attended by students and staff who shared laughs and tears as the movies moved one’s spirits.
Meanwhile, Bingo! Go! Go! for Wellness is a game that promotes the role of camaraderie and playfulness in fostering a sense of community among the students and staff. The Bingo prompts were carefully thought about as each letter represents various wellness reminders and advocacies for workers’ rights, gender freedom, and students’ rights and welfare— B for buhay araw-araw; I for isko life; N for nilay-nilay; G for growth; and O for opportunities.
Prizes consisting of limited edition “Para sa Baon” lunchbox, UP journal, and MH month stickers were awarded to the game winners.
Amidst everyone’s academic and work schedule, a simple break time for togetherness can make a difference. The OVCSA Mental Health Committee, in partnership with the UP Diliman Mental Health and Psychosocial Network (MHPSS), looks forward to having more wellness activities like these.
