2024 ASEAN CARD NEWS CONTEST

Human Asia is hosting its very first ASEAN Card News Contest. This initiative, in collaboration with ASEAN youth, aims to create card news on a variety of human rights topics.

This is an exciting opportunity to explore human rights issues, embark on a mission for social justice, make voices heard, and even earn $50.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be an individual with Southeast Asian nationality (participants can work alone or in pairs)
  • Ages 19-34

The Process:

  • Choosing a Topic
    • The topic must be a human rights issue relevant to ASEAN countries
    • Suggested topics are right to essential medicine, freedom of speech, labor rights, refugee/migrant worker rights, gender, climate change, sweatshops, and economic & social rights.
    • Explain the angle/approach of your topic. Selection of applicants is based on this portion.
  • Making Card News
    • Once the topic/angle is approved, the applicant can start making his/her/their card news piece. Feedback will be provided throughout the entire process.
  • Final Results:
    • Once the card news piece is completed, it will be uploaded to human Asia’s social media platforms and each piece will receive a $50 as compensation.

LIPAD ARAL: UPD  INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM (SPRING 2025) 

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA), through the Office of International Linkages Diliman (OIL Diliman), is now accepting applications for the 2nd Semester AY 2024-2025 UPD LIPAD-ARAL: International Student Exchange Program.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, you must be:

  • an enrolled undergraduate student
  • at sophomore or junior standing with cumulative GWA of 1.75 or better;
  • enrolled in UPD for at least one remaining semester upon return from the student exchange program;
  • at least 18 years old by December 2024;
  • willing to learn a new language, if needed;
  • not a previous participant of semester-long exchange programs; and
  • willing to engage in return service activities for UP Diliman upon return from the exchange program (e.g. assistance to inbound exchange students, assistance in international campus events, reporting on student exchange experience, etc.).

Required Documents:

  • Fully endorsed PDF Application Form
  • 1-page Curriculum Vitae
  • Latest True Copy of Grades or Official Transcript of Records
  • GWA/CWA Certification
  • Certificate of Remaining Units
  • 2 accomplished recommendation forms from UP Professors whose classes the student was previously enrolled in (at least one from applicant’s home academic unit faculty member)
  • Essay, in Filipino or in English, on why the student wants to become an exchange student (500-700 words)
  • Form 5 for the 2nd Semester AY 2023-2024
  • Photocopy of student’s valid passport bio-page (must have at least 6 months validity by the end of the program); or
    • For students with no passport, a passport application appointment will be accepted provided that the appointment date is before September 2024.

Successful applicants will receive a tuition waiver for the entire exchange program duration in their host university. Students have the option to apply for additional financial support through the UP OIL Mobility for Vigor and Excellence (MOVE UP) Program.

MASTER OF HEALTH RESEARCH ETHICS (MOHRE) Programme

Universiti Malaya, Malaysia is once again offering its Master of Health Research Ethics (MOHRE) Programme.

This Programme was jointly developed by the Berman Institute of Bioethics, Johns Hopkins University (USA) and Universiti Malaya with the support of the Fogarty International Centre of the United States National Institutes of Health. Universiti Malaya is the oldest and the top university in Malaysia, and it has a long history of achieving numerous accolades for delivering the best academic experience.

This exciting one-year programme provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about research ethics issues in the field of health and medicine. It is particularly relevant to those who work in or with Institutional Review Boards/Research Ethics Committees, academicians who have an interest in research ethics, and healthcare researchers.
