Seminars and Conferences

International Student Seminar on Asian and African Studies, entitled “Asia and Africa in the International System of the 21st Century and the construction of the Global South

The Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies (ALADAA) and the participating universities invite undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their research in the International Student Seminar on Asian and African Studies which will take place online (via zoom) on May 26 and 27, 2022 with the title “Asia and Africa in the International System of the 21st Century and the construction of the Global South”.

Objectives of the Seminar:

  • To contribute to knowledge generation and exchange about Asia and Africa amongst students in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
  • To create links between universities in the Global South that allow for the consolidation of joint research projects where students can participate actively.
  • To work together with higher education institutions in the Global South and facilitate the creation of research projects and programmes that include graduate and undergraduate students.
  • To promote academic production in Asia and Africa in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • To allow for joint research work between students in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

2022 CIEE Annual Conference

The 2022 CIEE Annual Conference taking place in Seoul, South Korea from November 8-10 with the theme, 75 Years of Pathways for Peace. CIEE is collecting proposals for the sessions and poster fair for the 2022 Annual Conference in Seoul, South Korea.

Proposals are reviewed by a committee of Academic Consortium Members – professionals in the field of international education – and CIEE Staff. A full description of the theme and call for proposal criteria can be found on their website. The deadline to submit a proposal is Friday, February 25, 2022.

The Third Bi-Annual Scientific Meeting of IAAHEH 2022

In line with one of the mission of Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Highest Education in Health (IAAHEH) to facilitate a culture of quality among health study program, the IAAHEH intends to organize Third Bi-Annual Scientific Meeting of IAAHEH on 22 – 23 February 2022 with the theme “Quality of Higher Education in Health: “Challenges of best practices in external QA during disrupting era of Pandemic and Industrial Revolution 4.0”.

HGEM Workshop on Innovation and Leadership

In partnership with the Harvard Undergraduate Global Education Movement (HGEM), the Global Citizen Education Group is delighted to announce its HGEM Southeast Asia Workshop on Innovation and Leadership, or HWIL, designed to engage and inspire the brightest young minds in the world.

An intensive two-weekend-long program designed to provide our participants with a deep understanding of leadership and to equip them with practical skills they can take back and implement in their everyday lives.

At HWIL, participants will have the chance to network with some of the most ingenious minds in the world, transform their knowledge into impact, and drive innovation in their local communities. Each participant will be allocated to a group of 5 to 6 other mentees and they will be guided by a mentor from Harvard, who will help them master the fundamentals of leadership and understand the key role effective leadership plays in fostering innovative thinking.

The program will cover topics such as leveraging our networks, collaborating efficiently with team members, effective public speaking, as well as engaging in critical thinking and problem solving.

Scholarships and Exchange Programs

Ernst Mach-Grant – ASEA-UNINET

The Ernst Mach-Grant – ASEA-UNINET offers scholarships for full or partial PhD studies, postdoc research stays and for studies in the field of music practice at an ASEA-UNINET member university* in Austria to students and researchers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Area of Study: All fields of study: Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Human Medicine, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts

Types of Grants:

PhD Grant

Target Group: Postgraduates who want to carry out a full doctorate/PhD-program in Austria and fulfill the requirements for admission and who have completed their studies at a university outside Austria

Duration: 36 months

Grant benefit: 1,050 euros per month + a travel costs subsidy of max. 1,000 euros

 

Postdoc Grant

Target Group: Postdocs who are involved in teaching and research at an ASEA-UNINET member university* in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, or the Philippines.

Duration: 3 to 9 months

Grant benefit: 1,150 euros per month + a travel costs subsidy of max. 1,000 euros

 

Sandwich Grant

Target Group: Postgraduates pursuing a doctorate/PhD-program at an ASEA-UNINET member university* in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam or the Philippines who would like to conduct a part of their studies in Austria

Duration: max. 9 months

Grant benefit: 1,050 euros per month + a travel costs subsidy of max. 1,000 euros

 

Music Grant

Target Group: Undergraduates (or higher) in the field of music practice (instrumental and vocal performance, composition, and conducting)

Duration: 9 months

Grant benefit: 1,050 euros per month + a travel costs subsidy of max. 1,000  euros

 

Maximum Age: Undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates: 35 years; postdocs: 45 years.

Language Proficiency: Very good knowledge of English and/or German.

 Selection Process: After an examination of the formal requirements and an evaluation of the applications by experts, the candidates will be invited to a personal interview. 2022 Taiwan Scholarships

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines will once again provide various scholarship programs for qualified Filipino students. These scholarships are intended for Filipinos who wish to pursue degree studies in #Taiwan (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral Degrees) or for those who would like to learn Mandarin Chinese in the Republic of China (Taiwan).

MECO-TECO Sandwich Scholarship Program (SSP)

The MECO-TECO Sandwich Scholarship Program (SSP) is open to master’s and doctoral students who would like to conduct their researches in a university or research institution in Taiwan. The priority research areas include (1) Natural Sciences, (2) Life Sciences, (3) Engineering and (4) Chemistry. Attached herewith is a copy of the guidelines and application form for your reference.

Interested applicants may communicate directly with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation located at the 2nd Level, ADMATEL Bldg., DOST Compound, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City or through email at itcu-mail@dost.gov.ph / dostssp.mecoteco@gmail.com. All applications must be submitted to the said office. The deadline of submission of the MECO-TECO SSP application is on 15 March 2022.

SURI Research Internships 2022

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University offers paid summer research internships for qualified U.S. citizens and permanent residents, and volunteer positions for international students. Students gain engineering research experience at a top research university and an in-depth understanding of what it would be like to pursue a PhD degree.

Students across all branches of engineering are welcome to apply. Students between the junior and senior years of their undergraduate degree and those pursuing Master’s degrees who are interested in earning a PhD will be given highest consideration. Participants will work under the mentorship of faculty members from various engineering programs to pursue 8-week-long research projects from May 25th to July 22nd, 2022. Available research projects include both in-person and virtual options.
