Hello there! The UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs’ #OpportunitiesCorner is an update on available scholarships, exchange programs, conferences, workshops, and other skill-enhancing initiatives for UP Diliman students. Here’s for the first week of December 2024:
JAPANESE MEXT SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS 2025
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japanese Government invites UP students to apply for the scholarship they offer to study in the Graduate programs at Chuo University, a private research university in Japan.
The International Center of Chuo University will recommend applicants to MEXT who plan to:
- Arrive in Japan for the first time to join the Graduate Program at Chuo University in September 2025 as non-degree students (either Senkasei or Kenkyusei); and
- Continue their studies at Chuo University as full-time, degree-seeking graduate students.
* Senkasei: Full-time, non-degree student
* Kenkyusei: Full-time, non-degree research student
Application Guidelines
- Applicants must satisfy all requirements and conditions set by Chuo University (see application guidelines);
- They must submit all requirements to the UP Office of International Linkages Diliman (OIL Diliman) on 6 December 2024, 5:00 pm;
- Complete applications will be assessed and evaluated by the UP Faculty and REPS International Mobility Committee (UPD-FRIMC) on 9 December 2024; and
- The selected applicant will be notified by email on 11 December 2024. Following this, the UPD-FRIMC Secretariat will send the hard copy of their requirements to Chuo University by postal mail.

YOUNG CREATIVES CHALLENGE SEASON 2
The Department of Trade and Industry invites young Filipino creatives from UP Diliman to join the second season of the Young Creatives Challenge, a competition designed to inspire, foster, and showcase the talents of young Filipino creators, with cash prizes of up to ₱1 million.
For the regular edition, creatives aged 18-35 are eligible to join in the following fields: Songwriting, Screenwriting, Playwriting, Graphic Novels, Animation, Game Development, and Online Content Creation.
The theme is open but must incorporate elements related to the creative tags: Love, Creativity, and Future.
Important Dates:
- Deadline of submission of entries: 6 December 2024
- Semi-Finals: January 2025 (Awarding of Top 11-30 creators and Announcement of the Top 10 Finalists)
- Grand Finals: February 2025 (Culmination and Awarding of the Top 10 Finalists)
